B is for Bat...and Banana!

It's our turn to bring snack to preschool tomorrow...
And this week they are learning all about the letter B...
So we decided to make bat cookies!!!
Similar to the summer sunshine cookies, we used store bought sugar cookie dough, food coloring, and a surprising amount of flour!
We separated the dough into 3 parts, and added food coloring to each.
I recommend the gel food coloring, it's less of a mess than the liquid and the colors seem to be more vivid.
Don't get me wrong, it's still messy...
But it's also a lot of fun!
The key to a successful sugar cookie, one that keeps its shape instead of puffing up into a blob, is the flour.
You have to work in the flour until it's just starting to have trouble sticking together.
That way...
You end up with cookies that hold their shape!
And for the healthier half of snack, we chose bananas!
I saw on Pinterest that you can lightly carve a word or in this case a letter into the banana peel and it will slowly become more visible as it turns brown!
 And it works!
So cool!
And so begins the season of cookies...
Cookies + Coffee + no will power = Thank goodness for the gym!!!
