Day 7 of the KCWC! Phew!

I may have done a little baking on Friday, but I also did a little sewing! 

For example, I completed the bloomers pictured above to coordinate with what I am calling Gigi's Retro Chic "Lucy" Dress because it makes me think of I Love Lucy!

In case you're wondering, I also fixed the little problem of the tag in front!

I love this pattern, the crossover pinafore is my all time favorite!

I completed this little number on Friday as well, and although it is being posted for sale in my

Etsy Shop, I figured since it was made for an infant it counts as part of the KCWC!

Yesterday was a bit tricky since we journeyed down to Colorado springs to visit family, but I managed to get started on these sweet little baby leg warmers...

Which I finished today!

I'm actually pretty proud of this simple crocheted spiral flower!

These too can be found in my Etsy shop!

And, I have started working on yet another style of baby leg warmers...

As you can see, I'm about halfway there!  I'm such a fan of baby leg warmers, there is nothing more annoying than fighting with tights, and baby, while trying to change a diaper when it's cold!

Not to mention what an absolutely adorable fashion statement they make!!!

And with all this sewing activity we still managed some time for playing in the leaves!

Oh Noah!

Missed it by that Much!

Day 4 of the Kids Clothes Week Challenge and project #3 is complete...sort of.

 It all started out well enough, I opted to go with the yellow polka dots on the blue, and I was excited to see it all put together...

The sewing went smoothly, no seam ripping required, and since this is a favorite pattern of mine, I didn't even have to think about it much...

And success!

Or so I thought...

When I went to put the dress on Gigi for our little photography session...

Because guess who sewed the tag into the wrong side of the dress?!!!!

GRRRR!

But the pockets are cute...

And Gigi didn't seem to mind the mistake...

As long as her friends Big Bird and Elmo could hitch a ride in her pockets!

I guess it's not such a big deal, and I will just add it to my project list for tomorrow!

 

 



P is for Pumpkins...and Pants!

So, the day started out with a visit to the Anderson Farms Pumpkin Patch with Noah's preschool class...

And it wasn't just pumpkins, there were animals to look at too!

There's a handsome guy!

And if you can't find your way through the maze, then you better just crawl under the wall to escape!

And is there anything sweeter in all the world?!!!

I don't think he enjoyed himself at all!

The second part of the day involved KCWC, and an hour spent making a new pair of pants for Noah...

They are my basic cargo pant with four pockets...

 And made out of some dapper plaid material I found in the remnants bin!

Noah tested them out this evening before bed...

And decided they were pretty cool!

Gigi wanted to get in on the modeling...

So she pushed Noah back up against the door, stood next to him and yelled cheese until I took the picture!

Good Grief :)



Day 2, Project #1 Done and Done!

So, project #1 is complete, and now Gigi has a very cute bubble romper to add to her wardrobe!

The super stretchy neckline makes the romper easy to get on and off...

And I added three ruffles for decoration at the collar...

but the best part by far are the two little pockets...

Gigi loved the pockets so much that she kept pretending to take things out of them and bring them to me!

I love to hear her baby speak..."Hee you doe!"

Translation...Here you go!

She doesn't look particularly happy here, but actually she is saying cheese and is just exasperated with how long it took me to get the camera ready!

All in all the romper was a success, not bad for two hours of sewing!

And on to day 3 which may pose a sewing challenge since I will be meeting Noah's preschool class at a pumpkin patch for most of the early afternoon, followed by shortened naps, and soccer at 5pm!

Cutting and Prep Count Too!

So, I joined the Kids Clothes Week Challenge...

Sewing for one hour everyday for 7 days, focusing on kids clothes...

The guidelines say that cutting fabric and creating patterns counts toward your sewing time, so today during nap I...

Created patterns...

And cut fabric...

And cut fabric...

 And cut fabric!!!

 I also played with my fabric options and coordinated colors and patterns...

And in general made a big ole mess!

But now I have all of the pieces prepped to create what will be a puffed sleeve bubble romper, a navy blue polka dot peasant dress with buttery yellow polka dot pockets (very retro chic!), and a pair of dapper plaid cargo pants!!!

AND, that mess?

Now neatly organized into these two tubs, one for large fabric scraps, and one for small pieces!

I gotta say it took me longer than an hour to accomplish this miraculous prep and organization, but the kiddos blessed me with a longer than usual nap time!

Tomorrow the machine comes out and sewing begins in earnest!
