An Organized Soul...or Car at Least!

Over the summer I got a little frustrated with the state of our car, and after failing to find a satisfactory solution in the stores, I finally made my own!
Say hello to the car organizer for books!
When I made this, Gigi was still in her bucket car seat so I neglected to make one for her.
The other day, in one of those crazy mom moments, I buckled her into Noah's car seat by mistake and though she looked at me funny, she sat there happily enjoying access to the books in Noah's organizer!
Whoops!  guess it's time to make her one too!
I raided my scraps and came up with a fun combination of patterns and colors and got to work...
It's a simple design using one long double sided piece for the back and four smaller double sided pieces for the pockets...
I won't bore you with the details, but I put the whole thing together and finished the edges with bias tape, and...
Tada!
Inspired, I think, by the spring like weather we have been having, Joshua spent a lot of time on Sunday cleaning the car from top to bottom, so take a long look because it's likely that it won't stay this clean for long...
But I think with both book organizers in play, it will hopefully never get that messy again!
Love the concept?

Dress Obsessed!

For the past couple of days, I have been a bit obsessed with making dresses!
It started with an unexpected, but very welcome, run on dresses in my shop, which left my stock depleted.
Luckily, I have several new fabrics to play with!
And I love to add ruffles for style and interest!
And let's not forget the classics!
I can't resist this Amy Butler design.  How sweet will the lucky newborn who claims ownership of this little peasant dress be?!
And after the last few sub-zero days, I am beginning to yearn for summer, so I put together this sassy little sundress!
All of these spiffy little frocks...frocks?...(mmm sure lets go with it :-)
All of these frocks are now available in my Etsy Shop!
And of course I couldn't neglect Gigi's wardrobe which has become somewhat diminished as she continues to grow and grow, so I whipped up this little reversible top!
It took some careful calculating to get the pattern just right, and I ran into a few snags along the way, but it was worth it, I am in love, and this little top may soon find its way into my shop as well!
But for now, it's simply Gigi...
And she is the perfect model, generously allowing me to chase her with my camera as she...
gets tangled in her yo-yo string...
Takes a moment to read a book...
Takes the afor mentioned yo-yo for a walk...
(can I just take a minute to say Hello Sparkle Boots!)
And serenades me to the tune of Dora the Explorer!
Swiper no swiping, everyone!

Need Some Last Minute Gift Ideas?

Let's start with the owls...
I have 5 sweet and snugly little owl loveys $10 a piece ready to find homes...
All with those sweet ribbon feet!

And I have two pairs of baby leg warmers in size 12-24 months available now in heather gray to go with any outfit, or festive red (remember Valentine's Day follows Christmas!) $15 each.
This soft and luxurious cream cowl is available now, but there is still time to special order one in the color of your choosing as well (visit my etsy shop or contact me for available color options)  $24.
And then there are those sweet little clippies!
And the red orchids are especially festive!
But if your looking for an extra unique, useful and inexpensive gift this year, take a look at my car trash bags!
I personally have one and can attest to it's excellence, it is able to hang from the gear shift, the back of a head rest, or just about anywhere in your vehicle.  It doesn't tip over and the fabric exterior is attractive and stylish!
Not to mention green...
As each trash bag is lined with fused grocery bags which create an easy to clean water proof interior!!!
Here are a few of the fabric options that are available, and a custom ordered trash bag is just $10!
I'm currently accepting custom orders for these trash bags in my Etsy shop!
And one final note, I haven't had time to whip up those purses and tote bags,
but if you saw a fabric that interested you and you wish to order a purse or tote, I contact me and I can accommodate you!
$24 for a tote and $38 for the purse!
I hope you will forgive all this shameless self promotion, I just thought I'd spread the word in case anyone needed a little inspiration for those last few Christmas gifts!

A Little Crazy and A Lot of Fabric!

Ok, can I just take a moment to share with you a little bit of crazy?
Not crazy exactly, although Josh would probably beg to differ,
but joy, pure unadulterated joy...
You see, a certain package arrived today, and well, this particular package makes me want to do a happy dance!
And where oh where did this package come from?
Why the fabric fairies at Fabric.com, of course!
And oh!  Just look at those colors!
The raw potential just puts a big ole smile on my face!
I mean navy and white chevron?!!  Be still my heart!
And the textures, twill and cotton duc...ok, probably crazy was a good description, but it's a joyful crazy!
This particular selection of fabrics are destined to become large pocket totes...
large pleated purses...
And various forms of the wet/dry bag!
I am so inspired!
Too bad my energy level doesn't match my enthusiasm.
As much as I'd like to go ahead and whip out the sewing machine right now and get to work helping my brand new collection of fabric fulfill their creative destinies, it will have to wait until nap time!
 But stay tuned...

What a HOOT! It's SEW cute!

Owls are everywhere lately!
At least in the stores that is...
And while I must admit that I have never considered the owl to be my favorite animal, I find myself falling in love with all the owly cuteness available these days!
With Christmas just around the corner, I have been trying to stock my Etsy shop with fun gift ideas.
To that end, I decided to make my own version of an owl lovey...
I combined all sorts of materials for the face and body, several different textures of fabric, felt for the eyes, and my favorite brain storm...
The ribboned feet!
And if you have ever had the opportunity to feel this minky material, you know how incredibly soft and cozy it is!
This owl is just begging for a hug, and he's available now in my Shop!
I love the way it turned out, and I can't wait to get to work making more!
Next time I will try to remember to document the steps so I can put together a tutorial for you!
