When you wish upon a star...

When you visit Disney World there are some things you should know...
Florida is HOT...you will be sweaty 100% of the time...
Spontaneously coming across Rapunzel's tower may cause uncontrollable giddiness and giggling...
Phineas and Ferb are AWESOME!
Roller coasters will mess up your hair!
Also, your hair will stay in this messed up state indefinitely due to the constant sweatiness which we discussed earlier...
Disney World is exhausting...
But the fireworks are AMAZING!
Starbucks is a necessary and  life sustaining requirement for daily functionality...
 Princesses are everywhere...
But Rapunzel is the best...even if this isn't the "real" Rapunzel because her hair doesn't go all over the room, and the "real" Rapunzel is actually riding in the parade down Main Street and you can tell she's the real one because her hair wraps all around the parade float...Also the "real" Rapunzel doesn't wear shoes...
One of the most importat truths about Disney World is that fanciness is not optional...
Even kittys wear tiaras...

And not even big strong daddys can escape the power of the glitter wand...
(consider yourself "bibidy-bobbidy-booed!")
...Being fancy at Disney World is exhausting...
Note:  Disney World is not the zoo...these animals can and should be fed at regular intervals!
And when you need to tie your shoelace, be sure to stop right in the middle of Fantasyland...
Remember that dainty ladies lift their skirts while elegantly descending staircases...
And Disney World is exhausting!
Just a few more Disney World facts to go...
Be aware, Disney World makes you feel oddly compelled to spend many dollars on strange things...
stay strong...
if possible avoid looking directly at all that cuteness...
Also, in case you were wondering, the tea cups ride feels like this...
except when it feels like this...
And when it's time to say good bye...
remember that extra small children should be required to carry extra large backpacks...
And if you don't end your trip looking like this...you didn't do it right!
Disney World side effects may vary...

But may include spontaneous princess impressions...
And excessive fanciness...

Up to and including bedtime, when high heels may be called fancy sleeping shoes!
Best Vacation EVER!

I Would Know those Ears Anywhere!

When you have two kids and you finally decide it's time to make that all important once in a lifetime (probably) trip to the magical world of Disney is your first thought of Space Mountain? Princesses?Mickey Mouse?  Cinderella's Castle?...
Well, I guess those were my first thoughts as well, but my second thought was, it's called Disney WORLD, how can I make my kids easier to keep track of?
Neon is the answer, of course, but it's not enough...
We are "Sew Unique" after all...
We have to represent!!
Chevron Mickey's are awesome, but are they fancy enough for the Gigi?...
Pffft...if "Fancy Nancy" has taught us anything, it's that everything is fancier with a bow on it!
Maybe we're crazy...
Maybe August is crazy hot in Florida...
And maybe planning the trip so that we end up coming home the day before school starts wasn't our smartest move...
But how do you say no to these faces...
Uh oh, I may have another problem all together!!!

So You think you can Sew...

This started out to be a tutorial on how to make a princess dress...
But then it morphed into "How to survive making a princess dress"
And now it's basically more of a "Look!  I made a princess dress!"
(maybe it should have been a tutorial on how to take a picture without your thumb in it!)
And then it changed into something else entirely when, after carefully watching my processes in making the princess dress, Noah asked if he could try making something...
Hmmm, sew like mom?
Those are some big shoes to fill!
Actually they aren't, I just really wanted to use this picture...
Anyway, we started with the basics, a book bag...
But of course, curious Noah wanted to know what other stitches my machine could do, so we tried something new...
Success!  He kept saying "I just can't believe I made a bag!"
(That's a sentiment I can fully appreciate as I have often referred to sewing as a super power, and I was quite surprised at how well my princess dress attempt turned out...
did I mention I made a princess dress?!)
The ever practical Noah added Velcro to keep the bag closed, and just couldn't wait to fill it with important things...
Nailed it!
